The California Coastal Commission’s August meeting will take place Aug. 12, 13 and 14 in Chula Vista, and the agenda includes two Corona del Mar homes as well as a proposal to add two 43-foot tall communication towers near Fashion Island.
AT&T Mobility and Verizon Wireless are seeking permission to add the towers and support equipment that would be installed at 1600 Newport Center Drive near East Coast Highway.
“The towers will be visible, but will not significantly impact the existing public coastal views, and will be painted a shade of green to blend with the existing vegetation,” a staff report states. “The towers will not impact coastal views from any other vantage points or scenic areas designated in the coastal Land Use Plan. The project has been conditioned to minimize additional view impacts by requiring revised plans for low-growing landscaping surrounding the towers, co-location of future antennas, and Commission review of future improvements.”
Staff recommended approval of the permit, the staff report states.
The meeting also includes two applications for Corona del Mar homes. One would demolish an existing two-story single family home and garage and build a new two-story home over a basement, along with an attached three-car garage, at 200 Poppy Avenue. The other application would demolish a 3,700-square-foot home to build a new, two-story 7,942-square-foot home at 107 Shorecliff Road.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. each day at 276 Fourth Ave. in Chula Vista. The meeting also will be streamed live here.
